Curriculum

The program uses a wide variety of instructional approaches, interactive teaching formats and methodologies designed to engage and challenge participants.

Courses:

  • HRM 663 - Advanced Organizational Behavior/Strategic Planning and HR Planning Processes
    • Links HRM functions with strategic goals and objectives. Focus on organizational behavioral and HR practices to improve performance and develop organizational culture.
  • LAW 589 - Employment Law
    • Employment law, statutory rights affecting the employment relationship, and alternative contract provisions to secure the parties’ intentions. Occupational health, safety and security law and related issues.
  • MGT 643 (C) - Advanced Organizational Behavior
    • Current issues and practices of organizational development theory. Change management, performance management and organizational performance practices.
  • MGT 660 - Negotiations and Labor Relations
    • Theory and practice of negotiation. Exploration of appropriate strategies, tactics and communication techniques. Study of dyadic, multi-party, cross-cultural and assisted negotiations. Principles and concepts of collective bargaining; methods of settling disputes over rights and interests.
  • HRM 667 - The Staffing Process
    • Recruitment and selection strategies to optimize organizational performance. Current practices related to job design, job analysis, recruitment, and selection methods within the context of employment law.
  • HRM 665 - Compensation & Benefits
    • Theory and practice of compensation strategy, methods and policies to include job evaluation, incentive systems, salary administration, benefits administration and compensation, and benefits legislation.
  • HRM 664 - Training and Career Development
    • Current concepts and practices in design, delivery and assessment of training. Theoretical background of training and development process; types of training including cross-cultural and diversity.
  • MGT 670 (I) - International Human Resource Management
    • Current research and practices in international dimensions of human resource management. Analysis of economic systems, legal and industrial relations factors and international alliances affecting human resource management. Integrating and automating worldwide and local HR functions to collect, process, store and disseminate information to support decision making, coordination, control, analysis and visualization of human resource management activities.
  • MGT 650 - Human Resource Management Capstone Course
    • In-depth analysis of organizational processes that exemplify best practices in human resources management. Application of these processes to students’ organizations.
